Hi. It’s my first post so Hi everyone![]
I own an 85 FZ750 which, with me being overseas for 2years now, has been sitting in the garage at home being bored.
Last time I road it the front break condition was… not good to say the least. I need advice on replacement hoses, master cylinder overhaul kits, and possibly new (funds allowing) calipers.
What hoses/calipers/kits would you recommend? And prices? It’s got 50,000 miles on the clock, and it’s time for the valve clearances to be set. How much would a shop charge on average for this?
Thanks in advance.

As for new or reconditioned calipers…try ebay or http://www.mad4bikes.com , I got a rear caliper in lovely clean condition for £30 and that was including the postage from mad4bikes and it also had a new set of pads in it.[]LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

Goodridge hoses, as Gix said, are well worth the investment and were cheeper for mine then the genuine Suzuki replacements.
They have got some calipers here for £45 each:

In terms of setting up the valve gear the official interval is 28,000 miles. I had mine checked at a dealer with 40,000 miles on the clock and they harldy needed touching. It is a fairly big job though, so I would buget in the region of £150 or so, but you should get a full engine service for that too.
I will try and post a piccy of my FZ over the weekend.
I sold it in 2000 and still miss the stonking engine in particular. Still see her aboput every now and again. Well over 50,000 miles on the clock and still looking good last time I saw it.

Did that read 150? For some reason it showed up as “questionmark50”
When I go back I’ll probably do that; get the shims checked and full service. How about R1 brake calipers? Would they fit/could i get a bracket to convert them to my bike? But the FZ disc is a bit thicker. Or should I just go with the 17″models calipers? Are they 2pot?
And another thing I heard: if you leave the bike for too long without running it, if there’s petrol left over in the carbs it can corrode the actual carb body.. is that true??

Yes one hundred and fifty pounds.
Thumper, another Forum member has loads of experience cleaning out carbs on a bike after a long lay up.
Check out how he got on by dropping him a PM.
