Why is it that whenever you are in one of those situations when you cannot ride a motorbike for a few days that you appear to be stalked by the bloody things!? This serves only to add to your frustration.
For example a couple of weeks ago I was away with my family on a weeks holiday. As we got in the car outside the house to set off a group of bikers were forming up at the bottom of the road, about to set off for a ride out. I could hear the engines roar into life as they fired up, the riders’ minds no doubt filled with the anticipation of a cracking days riding ahead…the weather was perfect for biking too, just rubbing things in that tiny bit more.
I watched them pulling away and just stood there and waited until the sound of the last bike had faded from earshot. Then I got into my diesel car, loaded up with my family and about 40 tons of junk to headed off myself for our camping holiday up in the frozen north.
As we trudged up the A1 bikes seemed to wizz past rgularly and when we stopped for a break two bikes, a Thundercat and a FZ1s Fazer…the two bikes I own, were parked up outside the service entrance. I’m convinced its’ all an evil plot!
Then as we finally got closer to our destination streams of bikes started pouring past in the opposite direction. Many of them beautiful classics. We were stopping near a town called Rothbury in Northunberland, a biker haunt in a similar vein as Matlock Bath and it was Bank Holiday Monday. There were hundreds of them!
Finally I thought I had escaped as we pulled into the campsite. But no, as I was setting up I heard the distinctive bark that could only come from a 350LC on spannies. NOOOO!!!! Its sounded fan-bloody-tastic and my eyes just followed its’ path as the rider pulled off the campsite. White and blue…the best colours and in pristine condition.
I really love camping….

Just as my frustration is building, a sodding bike filters past!!! BASTARD!!!

What have you done Gix??
June 17, 2010 at 10:25 pm #60800GixParticipantthought Andy had told you? i have broken my big toe right by the metatarsal phalangeal joint (ball of foot) and am in a cast and on crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. I fell down the stairs, not on the narrow bendy bit but half way up, my leg was folded underneath me so lucky not to have bust leg really, and i made it round the bend onto a heap on the hall floor. no i wasn’t drunk, it was sunday afternoon and i was just coming downstairs to go ride the stallion, i did not go to bed at all on saturday night after party, hence being tired and clumsy.
