What do you think or are your comments about this Article.
January 9, 2009 at 12:50 pm #57335RadarModeratorThought provoking stuff, B2BM. It reminds of a bloke I used to know who crashed his Mazda Rx7 into a Brownie parade in about 1990 on the Walsall road in Birmingham, he injured about a dozen, a couple very seriously. It made the top story of the national news that night. He wasn’t truly to blame, the parade was over the brow of a hill on a main road still open to traffic and with no official police escort, but a young lad in a modified (turbocharged) sportscar was always going to be sent down. He went to prison for 6 months. I have not seen him for many years, but the last time I did he still had not returned to driving so disturbed by the incident was he.
January 9, 2009 at 1:43 pm #57336HippoDronesParticipantInteresting reading. Kinda get the feeling he is in a bit of denial still as to why the accident happened from what he wrote but the sentiment is valid, it could happen to any of us that enjoy spirited riding or driving so feel for him on that level. I was very bitter about the “evidence used for years, well still am on the careless and inconsiderate judgment I received when I was 18 as it was opinion based rather than factual and I wasn’t allowed to question the witness in the way I required to get my point across.
January 9, 2009 at 5:04 pm #57337imperialdataKeymasterIt’s a story, I have no idea if it’s true. I’ll be honest, I haven’t read all of it, mainly because it is lengthy and because I am not sure of its integrity. Either way it’s a pretty depressing read.
January 9, 2009 at 11:24 pm #57338TT07ParticipantAgree with imperialdata dont know if its true, and also what Pete247 says about “us that enjoy spirited riding”, we all know there is a chance WE wont make it back whenever we ‘throw our leg over'(and as I have posted before I have personal experience of loosing a mate right infront of me)I have also seen pictures of a local incident when a rider survived when the car he hit resulted in killing the driver, so this “article” COULD happen to ANY roaduser at ANY time, be we the instigator or the recipient, and I think most of us realise that fact but dont usually discuss it.
January 11, 2009 at 12:28 am #57339BigBenParticipantits awful to think about any of that stuff really.. and what you guys have said is so true.
ive been sat here for about 5 minutes stumped on what to say.. i read quite alot of that article, and as it may may not be true still have to think about how crappy itd be.even if youre going gently and just having a good time you can still end up hurting or even killing someone if they walk infront of you.
what TT07 said about “it could happen to any road user and any time” is sort of relevant at the moment. even though i used to b*llock my lass for crap driving (even though i still tell her how) she was involved in an accident..i say involved i meant she caused a 3 car pile up by a moment of lost concentration. everyone was okay but shaken up as you are and shes actually been let off with nothing, just a slap on the wrist (daddy is well connected) but still she wont be p*ssing around again. everybody gets one free-bee in my opinion. im already onto 2 crashes so im going to be careful this summer..
anyways sorry for straying off the pointJanuary 12, 2009 at 12:12 am #57340TT07Participantquote:

Benji, dont think your straying off the point at all, anyway my post related more to fatal accidents than injury accidents, so my post was away from the original post. The good thing about this forum is it encourages discussion as diverse as those discussions may become.
January 12, 2009 at 1:23 am #57341BigBenParticipantwell its a good job then isnt it:))
the more i think about bike accidents i see in the papers the more worried i become, not for my personal safety but for those im riding with. constantly looking over my shoulder if im infront and if i dont see them for a while i pull over, its a bit silly, and its probably more dangerous for me to do that. but gotta look out for VFR man MD whatever the rest of his username is..hes probably going to tell me off for thatJanuary 12, 2009 at 11:39 am #57342imperialdataKeymasterWas thinking of a bike holiday abroad, just me and the wife, leaving the kids behind with family for a week. I can’t help but think about the possibility that we both don’t come back and what would happen to them, it’s human nature.
I’m a realist, I love bikes but they are more dangerous, especially when ridden for thrills. Hopefully a (relatively) level head keeps the all-important balance there most of the time. - AuthorPosts
