Warning to watch out for bikers

Bikers are asked to be aware of safety on the road
Motorists are warned to look out for bikers this time of year when accidents are traditionally at their highest.
Northants police say two-thirds of accidents involving motorbikes take place between April and September.

Repeated campaigns have helped reduce the most serious accidents and last year there were 35 fewer motorcycle casualties in the county than in 2003.

A police spokeswoman said: “We’re pleased at the reduction, but are still concerned about riders.”

Police also warned bikers to ensure their machines are in working order, if they have not ridden them since before last winter.

“We are asking all road users to be more alert and bikers especially to avoid speeding, dangerous manoeuvres and risky overtaking,” a spokeswoman said.
