From MAG:
VOLUNTARY GROUP BEING DESTROYED BY LOCAL COUNCIL
The Burton and district sporting motorcycle club is an ACU affiliated club located in Burton-on-Trent Staffs and is dedicated to the training of all people (over the age of 6) in the realm of ‘off road motorcycle sports’ We specialise in Basic training, Grasstrack, Speedway, Motocross and Enduro. The focus of our training is at Shobnall Leisure complex where we have hired a piece of land from the local authority for the past 10 years. The track and all the hardware required has been supplied by the club with no external funding. All our coaches and maintenance staff are volunteers who give up large amounts of their time for the benefit of the young people of Burton and its surrounding areas. The club has invested in excess of £10,000 in this piece of land with no help from the leisure centre management or staff. The club currently has around 140 members aged from 6 years old to over 70 year old. The club welcomes anyone with an interest in motorcycles to participate and provides, at its own cost, machines for kids to try prior to obtaining their own bikes. We are constantly having kids referred to us by the police which helps alleviate the national problem of illegal riding by young people on inappropriate land.
There is no other facility anywhere in the UK that matches this clubs activity.
We are currently under threat once again from the local council who are refusing to continue to rent us the piece of land after the end of March. The local authorities have not discussed any redevelopment of this area and have not offered any alternative place for the children to ride their motorcycles.
We find it incredulous that the people that are employed in this borough to develop community activities, support youth provision, and provide leisure opportunities to all are once again threatening the very existence of a unique facility that not only does not cost the authority anything but pays money to the local authority and fly’s the flag for BURTON-ON-TRENT around the country. Please support us by contacting the following people with a message of support for our club. Also if you are a resident of East Staffordshire please contact your local councillor to express your support. Thank you.

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!
