Superbike World Champion Troy Corser was given the honour of carrying the Queen’s Baton on a high speed ride round Phillip Island circuit to kick off round two of this year’s Superbike World Championship.
Aboard his Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSX-R1000 Troy lapped the 4.445km island track as dawn was breaking over Bass Strait, hitting speeds of over 220 kph down the main straight. He also did a series of wheelies at Siberia and thrilled the media with several smoky burnouts as he held the Baton high.
Corser’s leathers sponsor, Alpinestars, dressed the world champion for the important occasion, making a special set of white and green leathers that were an exact replica of the uniform runners have worn throughout the Baton’s Australian journey.
