Here’s an interesting issue.
A mate of mine has a Y reg 929 fireblade.
Recently its been slipping out of gear at high revs, around 10K. Its had a complete new clutch fitted as suggested by a mechanic man we know. However the issue is still around. Most notably in second, although its happened in a couple of others too. 5th I think?!?
Any ideas?

That is probably a fair estimate…it is quite a big job.

Is this the 929 of Gone2mars on BC?
Let us know how he gets on
July 28, 2010 at 7:36 am #61031ChampsParticipantYes it is. Funny story though, we are heading to Europe next week (topic coming soon) with me, him and Mads (BC). We are trying to get something sorted but its not looking good.
I had a blast on it the other day and he has been out the last two nights, its not too bad (at the moment), it doesn’t cause any problems till 10K rpm, and if you short shift through 2nd into 3rd you never notice it.
He has had to learn how to ride again.
Its not ideal and its definately not advised but its working, and he has European AA ‘return home’ cover! Which has cost a bloody fortune.
However after speaking to him, I think this trip may be the blades swan song.
I may know a mate who has a 929 blade with a dodgy gearbox for sale in a fortnight, haha
July 29, 2010 at 10:16 pm #61032RadarModeratorJust be wary of it locking up at a bad moment. Make sure all changes are done smoothly.
