The Motorcycle Mart is about to change ownership as Geoff Turner at the age of 78 is about to call it a day. The dealership is to close at the end of this month (October) for re-furbishment, and re-open at the start of the New Year, although there maybe a limited spares department at some time before the official re-opening date. The existing Staff have been told that there are jobs for them all. I have bought most of my machines from this dealership and can say that I have seen the best service that I would expect to see. The new owners have (Unofficially) connections with Streetbike (Halesowen) whom I personally have had no dealings, and, although officially the `Mart` will have no connection with Halesowen and will retain it`s Mart name, I do wonder what kind of service to expect in the future. Please give your posts on what your experiences with Streetbike have been as I have a feeling that the same can be expected at `The Mart` in the future, be that good or bad.
A mate has just texted me to say that the new owners will not be buying the existing stores stock, subsequently helmets are up to 75% off I am off for a look to see if there any other deals and will post again on what I see.October 11, 2007 at 6:56 pm #53666imperialdataKeymasterI had dealings with Kawasaki city back in the 1980s and 1990s. They were based in West Bromwich, Midlands and were taken over (or turned into) Streetbike with the Dudley branch being the main one.
I purchased a new GPZ750, a new Z1100ST (remember those?) and a shiny new GPZ900R (which still shines) from them and had no real quibbles when it came to any warranty stuff. I think a bike shop is only as good as the owner/staff though and it really changes with the personnel who work there, albeit working to the company’s guidelines and rules.
There’s still a place for the smaller bike shop but to remain competitive they need to try even harder which, at 78 years young, probably pushed the Motorcycle Mart owner to selling. Good luck to him and kudos for holding out this long.

Good Tip-off TT, thanks
October 12, 2007 at 12:23 am #53668RadarModeratorThe Weise clothing they currently sell is excellent. I wonder if there will be reductions on that too? Might treat myself to a new Leather.
I have used the Mart a lot over the years and I hope the new custoadians keep up the tradition of good service.
Good luck to Geoff Turner, he has earned his retirementOctober 12, 2007 at 4:30 pm #53669TT07ParticipantYes have spent a little of the hard earned cash. Can confirm that all clothing (inc. Weise) and all helmets are 50% off. But if you can get there, you best be quick, as word got about on Wednesday so stock is going very quickly.
October 13, 2007 at 8:30 pm #53670RadarModeratorCheers for the tip off. I got Mrs Radar some leather jeans and fabric over trousers at 1/2 price and myself a new visor for my Shark aero at good price.
Clothing was nearly picked clean by Saturday afternoon
