May 2, 2011 at 9:10 pm #62418teamafterdarkParticipantIt was an up and down weekend, well down and up would be better! Friday we had the cams go on the vertical cylinder after about 5 laps of practice. Fortunately Rich from Louigi Moto brought one up to us with all the timing gear etc , so we were able to get the bike going for Saturday, but obviously we had missed out on valuable track time.
So Saturday came and James looked good in the morning practice session.
Race 1 saw James take the lead only for the race to be red flagged while they cleared away a big high side. On the restart James went back to the front but dropped back to 2nd about half way through the lap, then disaster happened!! Exiting Honda curve the front let go at between 120/130 mph and James and bike went hurtling across the grass. Not a pretty site. The list of damage was pretty long.
Well to cut a long story short we had the bike up and running with about 20mins to spare for the second race. James managed 4th with a very mature ride ( it got him rider of the day).
Sunday race 1 he got 3rd and race 2 he got 2nd. So to sum it up it was quite a frantic weekend but the team and James done themselves proud.
Next round is the Brands gp round on the 21st & 22nd of May. Hopefully some of you guys will come along.May 2, 2011 at 9:14 pm #62419ses310ModeratorWow does sound like an very eventful weekend! James did brilliantly to finish in the places he did after that sort of crash!
