Hi all, Allan calling from Alnwick, Northumberland.

    Anyone here like Supermotos?

This is my first (Aprilia 550) and i realise they are not for everyone, but off motorways and duals, i don’t think i have owned or ridden anything quicker than this.
    The handling is incredible.
I got this one via a factory contact and is the only one i have seen to date.
Anyhow, i am hooked, i really don’t want a 200kg beast again, or even a 160 kg one.
I am in love with 125kgs and 70bhp.

I will no doubt take some pictures at some stage.

I cannot believe how revvy this thing is for a twin, it revs almost like a four.

My last bike was a Kawasaki ZX12R, derestricted and very very fast, but the ultra-light weight of the Aprilia is just soooooo addictive.
It turns on a postage stamp, stops on one and will do over 3 figures with ease, although top speed is irrelvant to me nowadays, in the camera-infested country which we are riding.

If anyone ever fancies a fast blat along the empty lanes up here, let me know.

    Hi Radar.
I moved up here a year ago from Essex, i really prefer the lack of traffic/noise/hassle!
As for the bike, nothing but praise. A friend has a Suzuki GSXR600, a 2006 model and on the tighter stuff, he can’t get anywhere near the little ‘motard. The Aprilia is much stronger in the turns and also on the brakes and only if the conditions allow 100+ mph, does the Suzuk reel in the little twin.
A guy who lives in Berwick has a tuned Husaberg 650 single ‘moto and he regularly blows away the 750 and 1000 sports bikes on the lanes, he is an ex-road racer and has balls of steel, leaves his braking impossibly late and still makes the turn.
It’s fun fun fun all the way and today has been brilliant weather, we just had an 80-mile blat through north Northumberland.

    Blissssssssssssss! [:D][:D][:D]

My sister lives in Morpeth, Northumberland boasts some cracking, if challenging roads alright. Rothbury is a big in the summer I believe.

    Hi Allan and welcome.

I am leaning more and more towards the supermoto thing. Guess it’s partly because of the camera/crappy road surface thing in the uk and partly because they are, as you say, so light and capable. I think most riders are pleasantly surprised by a blast on one of these later generation SM’s. If it brings a bit of off road fun along the way then that can’t be a bad thing either!
