I have heard of a slight dodge. I believe that you are required to name the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence and that that person needs to be insured on your vehicle. So, find a relative/friend who lives abroad, or even make one up, add that name onto your insurance first as a named driver, then whenever you are flashed you say it was them, show the fact that they are insured and Bob’s your uncle you are free. It has been done to my knowledge on numerous occasions and very succesfully. Make the person 50 years old with 30 years no-claims bonus. He won’t ever make a claim. There was a case in the papers recently of a couple who went many stages further and got caught but I think their problem was that he wasn’t insured and so they had to prove his existence otherwise. Has anyone used a similar thing? I am in the process of checking that this is all that would be required by law and that if they checked you would not be required by law to ‘prove’ flights etc.
