Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!

Same as me more or less, but instead of disc lock, use a chain and padlock. Some scum tried to get at bike last night, bike is in a lock up thats bolted and chained, they wrecked the bolts but chains kept them out. Not satisfied with that, they started throwing debris over the top of the lockup door, bike is covered but a few new marks and scratches today, police weren’t interested, they could have caught them in the act but too busy with gaurding the crime scene 100 yards from my back gate where a copper was seriously assualted yesterday morning….nice neighbourhood I live in.

Am glad they didnt get yours Gixerchic. I think that wherever you go there will always be bad apples, I like to think the majority are not. Saying that there are 2 scumbag families living in our street and if its not nailed down, they’ll have it, they’re traveller type families, Loads of dogs barking, Rubbish,Kids and parents, shouting and screaming and no respect for other peoples property.

July 7, 2005 at 6:44 pm #29173ScouserParticipantSorry to hear about your problems Gix.
Another thing you can try is a cheap baby monitor with the transmitter in the garage and the receiver next to you.
Be seen and be Safe!
July 7, 2005 at 7:28 pm #29174MadSradParticipantBuy a house over here Gix !! They’re cheaper and theres great roads totaly cop and cam free !! lol Less likely to get your bike nicked also.

July 7, 2005 at 7:38 pm #29175DiggerParticipantAlso Gix you can get a cheap PIR (passive infared)alarm that detects movment and works off a battery too. Also if someone tampers with the door the alarm goes off too as it has touch sensitivity detectors which are adjustable according to how sensitive you want it.Sorry to hear about that Gix,any idea who it could be, you could send your mates round.
Take it easy out there
July 7, 2005 at 7:46 pm #29176GixParticipantWell as it was like a mini riot outside my door (they werent bothered about being caught….what was I gonna do?), I didnt go outside (was scared….there I said it!), but there are so many possibilties to whom it may be round here, every ones suspect!
Have a contact alarm which is now bust! Cant use infrared cos there is a gap top and bottom of door and cats go in there, would be setting it off all the time. Reason I cover the bike was cos I got fed up with paw prints on my seat!LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

July 7, 2005 at 8:36 pm #29177imperialdataKeymasterSorry to hear this Gix, makes me sick. Even worse when there’s no support from the local plod. Pathetic aren’t they.
I had a bike nicked once and luckily it hasn’t happened since. I did have the garage door handle set at 240V (on the alarm being triggered) at the last house but I’d probably be in more trouble for doing that and ‘zapping’ someone than the guy pinching my bike. Still have a ‘shock’ in store for any potential thieves at the moment, obviously can’t say what though!

July 7, 2005 at 8:44 pm #29178GixParticipantLOL ID….I have put some extra security bolts, padlocks etc as well as fixing up what they damaged, but I still wont sleep tonight cos the alarm is broke, that will be replaced tomorrow, and have heard people going on about these alarm guns…..
Basically its a bracket, spring, pin and shotgun cartridge(supposed to be a blank). A wire runs across the target area which is attached to the pin. The pin holds a rod which is held under pressure by the spring above the cartridge. Pull the wire, the rod hits the cartridge and BANG the cartridge fires.
Should imagine them to be very effective so going to have a look around…..not sure if they are strictly legal….[:0]LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

July 7, 2005 at 8:58 pm #29180GixParticipantI love google!
Has any one else tried these? The alarm gun can be mounted on a post, fixed to a tree, a building or fixed to the ground. A steel pin stops the plunger from firing the 12 gauge black powder cartridge. A trip wire is fixed to the pin and run across the area you wish to protect, a 12g alarm blank cartridge is inserted into the alarm gun. When the wire is tripped the pin is released firing the cartridge.
The devise….The cartridges…..
I would imagine the noise would send them running? Any one got any experience of them?[?]
