‘Safety’ fears over Bulldog Bash
Mr Tobin was killed on his way home from the biker festival
Police have explained their decision to object to a biker festival’s bid for a licence a year after a man who attended the event died.
Gerry Tobin, 35, from London, was shot dead on the M40 in Warwickshire, after leaving the Bulldog Bash at Long Marston Airfield in August.
The Warwickshire force said its objections were “in the interests of protecting the public from harm”.
Seven men deny Mr Tobin’s murder and are due to face trial in October.
The licence application for the Bulldog Bash is due to be heard by Stratford-on-Avon District Council in a fortnight.
Warwickshire Police said it had given “detailed submissions” to the council.
The police statement added its objections to a licence being granted were “based on the firm belief that by permitting the Bulldog Bash to take place the public safety and crime and disorder licensing objectives will not be met.”
