Ruben Xaus injured riding a supermotard
2005 did not end well for Ruben Xaus. The Spanish rider who was due to return to SBK in the ranks of Team Sterilgarda Berik, after a two-year stint in Moto GP, was injured on the 31st December during a training session with a supermotard. Xaus fractured his left ankle in the fall and was taken to hospital in Barcelona. A plaster cast was initially applied to his leg but has since been replaced by rigid bandaging. Xaus has announced that he still hopes to line up for the first race of the new World SBK season, scheduled to take place in Qatar on the 25th February, even though he is unlikely to be peak condition.
