Rossi impresses in Formula One tests
03 Feb 06 16:07Valentino Rossi
MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi silenced his critics by putting in a solid performance in his first multi-team, open test in an F1 car, in Valencia, Spain. After a disastrous first day, when he spun in wet conditions and did not complete a lap all day, Rossi posted 53 laps on Wednesday and ended up ninth from 15 drivers. Rossi was driving a Ferrari F2004 with a detuned, 2006-spec V10. His best lap was a second slower than Michael Schumacher’s best in the new Ferrari F248.
Rossi can make the leap to Formula One, according to Schumacher. ‘Absolutely, it’s completely possible for him,’ the seven-times champion told France’s L’Equipe newspaper. ‘He has enough talent to get there. I would even say that it is easier to go from bikes to cars than the other way round,’ added the German, who tested a Ducati MotoGP bike last year after Rossi had driven his Ferrari.
‘And when, like him, you have this special feeling on two wheels, you can use it perfectly on four wheels.’

I still think at some point he will make the switch to Formula 1 cars and the helm of a Ferrari
