A mini Easter Monday bike meet occurred at our cottage in the Forest – the little carpark was over-run with bikes: 2 Pan-Europeans from Bishops Cleeve, a GSXR 1100 from Birmingham (Geoff), Ollie’s GSR 750 & John’s Ninja 636 both from Cheltenham.
One of the Hondas misjudged our concrete strips when leaving and stopped too soon at the top – had to back-pedal 80ft down the 1:4 slope and try again…not nice.Dodged the traffic down to Monmouth then along the east bank of the Wye to Bigsweir Bridge and over to Tintern Abbey. The Anchor Inn was very welcoming, serving a good range of hop cordials: the Gem and Otter Best were particularly refreshing. Apparently.
We swapped tales of European trips and car-boot bargains until the weather forecast of rain at 4/5/7pm (depending on station) triggered an exodus and we cut up-country to Coleford, where Ollie lead the pack out towards Monmouth while John and I peeled off on the correct route back to our various homes.April 25, 2014 at 10:01 am #67756imperialdataKeymasterYou’re in a lovely part of the world there. I remember some nice roads around Tintern Abbey too.

Ouch. Any damage to rider or bike?
April 25, 2014 at 1:40 pm #67757RadarModeratorSounds like a great gathering, your drive is a little challenging though!
April 26, 2014 at 1:54 pm #67758elessimoParticipantAmazingly both bike & rider unscathed. Rather him than me though…
Got a new concrete slab at the very top to replace the flat potholed track and the deep trench between the upper sloped concrete strips has been filled, so it is much better than it was.
But until I excavate the grassy/mossy strip between our steep concrete strips it will still remain tricky in the wet. And that’s not going to happen soon…..
After all, that would kill off my genuine requirement for a wet-weather supermoto to keep the TDM company….One day……

I’m liking your logic. I suppose I could do worse than see if the wife agrees with my genuine need for a Lamborghini because the ashtray is getting full in my car.

Thanks, ses, will do so this weekend, time willing….
May 4, 2014 at 9:13 pm #67764elessimoParticipantThanks to ses310 and imperialdata – I’ve cracked the photo thing and retrospectively added a couple of photos to the Tintern report.
Radar, we’ll visit as soon as we get a free, dry weekend….
May 5, 2014 at 12:30 pm #67765RadarModeratorLook forward to that visit. Great gathering of bikes there but you need something like this for your drive!
May 6, 2014 at 11:24 pm #67766elessimoParticipantLooks a good project for next year….
May 17, 2014 at 8:15 am #67767imperialdataKeymasterThanks for posting the pics, TDM is looking great. That slope looks a killer!
May 22, 2014 at 8:00 pm #67768elessimoParticipantYes, pleased with the TDM – just about to add a pair of Rox Risers to get a bit more control up that driveway. Come down and check it out for yourself next time Radar & Thumper do a Forest blast!
