Have no idea where to begin with it, but it needs sorting. There is no clutch lever, it works by engine speed and just snicking it in, bit like clutches changes on a bike. Problem is, it now rolls forward in gear when engine is off, and it shouldn’t. It’s invaluable to me especially at the minute so don’t want it to bugger up completely. It’s a Honda TRX420 (2008). Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
September 3, 2013 at 9:19 pm #66788RadarModeratorI am sure this is just like a big version of a C90 with a centrifugal clutch.
Not sure not could be causing this fault, but it sounds like tired clutch springs to me. I could be way off beam, but its a thought

I am reasonably sure it is a centrifugal clutch. I googled the model and clutch problems but it didn’t seem to throw up many hits, just links to ones for sale on ebay!
Is the oil fresh?
September 3, 2013 at 11:52 pm #66791GixParticipantYeah oil is fresh(ish), I have always described it as centrifugal, easy fix then!
Thanks RadarSeptember 4, 2013 at 12:03 am #66792GixParticipantHmmmm just been looking, the auto (electric shift) has centrifugal clutch, but as far as I can tell the manual shift (mine) has plates? So now I am confused! The reverse does use a ‘lever’ of sorts, the rear brake lever doubles as clutch lever for reverse. Think I’m gonna need to find a service manual!

I was on the right(ish) track…any progress Gix?
