Having a bit of a nightmare, I had to source a new gear selector drum as that was knackered. Now the gearbox that I got is different to the one thats come out. Between the guy I had the box off and the guy fitting it they think the new one is actually a HRC close ratio race gearbox from a British superbike which is slightly different.
I am now giving the engine and gearboxes to the guy I had the gearbox off and see if he can sort it.July 29, 2011 at 9:30 pm #62648BigBenParticipantjesuuuus! nothings ever simple is it mate. although if it is indeed an HRC box u did well for the money! but theyre normally marked up if its a race box. has it got anything written on it, generally would be stamped on the end of one of the shafts.
July 29, 2011 at 10:34 pm #62649ses310ModeratorIt is definatly a HRC box, the guy I had it off now has it and reckons it maybe something to do with shims or something a it won’t fully disengage the gears.
It has turned into a bit of a headache! He reckons he is going to sort it then send it me back so hopefully it will all be back together soonJuly 31, 2011 at 5:02 pm #62650BigBenParticipantor just flog the box for loads and give u a bog standard one back. more hassle than theyre worth are bikes. ill swap u for my blade if you want..it runs and all that and ill take yours in whatever condition its in

August 5, 2011 at 10:44 pm #62653ses310ModeratorThanks mate, I now have a slight issue that the clutch won’t fit as the shaft is a little long but I’m told a spacer will sort it so hopefully have it back on monday or tuesday now.

August 15, 2011 at 6:44 am #62660ses310ModeratorYeah went out for a test yesterday, for some reason it will not change up without the clutch. It changes fine when using the clutch but will not change without it. Any ideas?
August 15, 2011 at 2:48 pm #62661BigBenParticipantyeah……change up using the clutch? you will shred your plates and then they will need replacing, a new clutch aint cheap.
