Hi there, I’m not a bike owner myself but my uncle is. I have been out with him a few times. I am looking to buy him some paddock stands as he is always moaning about how hard it is to give it a good clean. Has anyone got any advise about which to buy. Is there any I should stay clear off for any reason etc.
August 28, 2008 at 1:23 pm #56439N1teMareParticipanti bought my pair off ebay from these folks (£38 delivered)
now we need to know which bike it/they are going to be for as mine are no use on single side swingarm bikes …
folks could recommend abba stands (very good items and would be nice for my sports bike) but they are a tad pricey but again may not be the correct one for your/his bike
more info needed

As said you need to know what bike its for as some have singlesidded swing arms and those with conventional swingarms
come in different widths etc. There are also different types of these, some come with cups that just rest under the
swingarm, others have hooks that require bobbins to be fitted to the bike! (I prefere this type as the bike is more
secure on them!August 29, 2008 at 11:54 pm #56441RadarModeratorWelcome to the Forum NC!
I use a paddock stand I bought in my local bike shop, I actually can’t remember what brand it is, I will check tomorrow and dig out a link for you
In the meantime this link will help you to explore the site

Glad you asked the question Ive been meaning to source a front paddock stand for a while but thought that 40 quid was a bit steep at my local bike shop Looks like I will be going for the one that Pete247 linked through to ebay. Can someone please tell me what the universal type front stands (with 2 supports each side) go against to lift the front end.
August 30, 2008 at 4:55 pm #56443HippoDronesParticipantThese are the ones I have, very fast delivery from this seller too and v-cheap!
The front ones like these can either go onto the bottom of your fork and the second bar just back from that and pivot up the side of the fork leg, I normally put them onto the brake caliper hanger at the back of the forks, means you can still get to the axle and is more secure imo
August 30, 2008 at 11:03 pm #56444TT07ParticipantThanks for the information Pete. Have just ordered a front one from your recommended seller for £24. Cheers Mate!
August 31, 2008 at 1:04 am #56445HippoDronesParticipantwhen you get it can I suggest you hold the rests out at the required distance with a cable tie or somit. They are spring loaded and
their natural position is thinner than the discs so when being used as you spin the wheel you can potentially scratch the paint on
your disc rotors!August 31, 2008 at 12:50 pm #56446HippoDronesParticipantI’ve just ordered a stand for my KTM off them, hopefully reveive it by Friday

Getting it just in time, the original front BT015 on the 1000 needs changing, its done over 7¼ thou, where as I’ve just put on a 3rd rear one!
September 4, 2008 at 9:48 pm #56448TT07ParticipantOrdered it Saturday, received today (Thursday) from Germany, quality is as good as any I’ve seen. []So thanks Pete247 for your recommendation and link to ebay[].
Pete, I have found there is no need to use cable ties to pre-load the springs to get the right width, I have simply put the springs outboard of the stand as both bikes need the lugs pulled out to the maximum width!! Cheers again mate.
September 4, 2008 at 10:46 pm #56449HippoDronesParticipantCool, hope my new stand shows up soon!
Your brake caliper mount is different than my Gixers, is it secure like that? Mine have a sort of flatter bottom so the pins don’t interfere with the suspension adguster.
September 5, 2008 at 12:52 am #56450TT07ParticipantThat was a quick trial to check the width, the casting around the adjuster had not come into contact with the front support it was resting on the back of the forks and the other support took the weight under the bottom caliper mount. Yes the thou caliper mount is flat like the 750s and both supports rest very nicely underneath (will follow up with a photo soon)
September 5, 2008 at 8:06 am #56451HippoDronesParticipantAhh cool, was worried you were gonna be wobbling them about with it mounted like the above, them suspension adjusters can be quite fragile and didn’t want you to break it coz of how I said I mounted mine in an earlier post.
September 8, 2008 at 10:39 pm #56452TT07ParticipantYes Pete solid support point and full access for removing the front wheel, guess your 750 has the same caliper mounting brackets.
