Is it normal, but about every 500 or so miles I have to top up my oil as the warning light comes on.The R1`s service history is up to date and is due for its 14k service soon, does any one know if a mid milage R1 users oil this much.Dont think there is a problem as the bike is running so sweet and still putting out 143 at the back wheel.Does any one top their oil up at a certain milage.

Do you use fully synthetic or semi synthetic oil digger?

Fully synthetic as my manual says,10/40 is the viscoticy. Not sure if you can use semi and would it do any harm if you did.

I had an R1 and it used to use about half a litre every thousand miles. R1’s are known for using oil, but its quite normal I believe.

Yep ! R1’s are renowned for burning a little oil. Changing your oil to semi synthetic should help cure the problem.

Semi synth wont do any harm at all ! The fully synthetic stuff seems to get too thin and leak up through the rings and valves. Personaly I always buy semi, as long as its 10w/40 it’ll be fine and dandy.

Put an egg in your radiator and this will stop any leaks!

Have tried all the above but things started to get messy when the hashbrowns got stuck on the crankcase.
