At the moment there is no specific size for a numberplate in the MOT regs, its all down to the testers eyeball, if i can read it clearly from 15 yards or so its a pass, but you can get nicked for an undersized plate on the road under the road traffic act 1988 so expect an advisory to cover my ass

Having said all that black & white or black & silver plates on a bike regestered after 1st jan 73 is a fail & so is any stupid shaded background or slanty letters, italics etc along with strip single row plates eg abc123d

Insecure plate can also be a fail & expect an advisory if you stick ya big silly plate on just for the mot & its obvious its going to be changed again thats simply to cover my ass if you get nicked or vosa is watching me from round the corner ;)

I got failed for a smaller plate on my 300 last year, which annoyed the hell outta me as they mentioned nothing about it when I took it in the time before! :@

aye :) was just annoying coz I had a full size plate at home that I could have fitted but couldn’t get to the test centre with it at the time of the MOT so had to pay their extortionate £18 for a new plate

Dont worry Radar they’re getting hot on slogans on plates now due to new changes in the law, this is why you will see newer plates with a extra bit on the bottom with shop names etc on there!
