I have seen this kind of marking carefully polished out. Considered that option? You could then put the B Std sticker on the can somewhere

there is no longer any requirement for a bs number to be displayed on an exhaust for mot purposes, it is down to the mot testers discretion to determine whether it is too loud. If they try to fail you for not having the bs number visible, tell them that they are not allowed to interpret the VOSA rules as they see fit – the rule is that as long as it doesnt say “not for road use” or “for race use only” on the can, and it is not excessively loud compared to the bikes standard system then it passes. If still no joy, threaten to appeal against a fail, a garage only gets so many appeals a year and if they all win they lose their testing licence, although being friends with the mechanic ultimately helps.
If you have whats technically known as a “loud as fu$k” exhaust, a small piece of drilled copper tube inserted outside the test centre for mot purposes nearly guarantees a pass.I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning.
