Headed up to the excellent MOSI in Machester recently. If you are into Engineering history and heritage it is a superb place. It also had plenty to keep the kids happy too. In the Air and Space Hall nestled amongst the other exhibits such as a slightly post WW2 Spitfire and a mighty Avro Shackleton, a few classic bikes were also on display:
Anelay special 1952 125cc
A 1951 DOT (‘Devoid of Trouble’), charming little bikeDOT made bikes right up until the mid 1970’s apparently, although I must admit that I had never herad of them. Remarkably the company is still trading, making and supplying spare parts.
Royal Ruby was another brand I do not remember:
There was also a couple of Speedway bikes on display which took me back to the days when I used to go to Perry barr stadium in Birmingham back in the mid 1970’s with my brother to watch the BRMB Brummies in action around the cinder track…
A 1976 Weslake on loan from former world champion Peter Collins
JAP Speedway machineA bit more information about DOT motorcycles can be found here for those of you interested:

February 11, 2009 at 8:07 am #57594TT07ParticipantThe aircraft in the second shot with the Sabre looking intake, is it a prototype P1a/P1b English Electric Lightning?
February 11, 2009 at 8:22 am #57595TT07ParticipantRadar, if you are going to Red Marley Hill Climb this year you may well see an early-60’s DOT scrambler (Yes devoid of trouble). My Dad raced one back in that era, they were somewhat different in having a square tube frame.

Indeed it is. There was one at Cosford, not sure if it is the same example. Technically the P1A/B was a stand alone model that evolved into the Lightening.
There was plenty of good stuff at MOSI in the Air and Space hall

I am planning to go to REd Marley this year, perhaps as a forum gathering. Let me know if you are interested.
Is that your Dad in the picture?

Yes have seen the one at the Aerospace Museum at Cosford (That could be a further venue for a Forum Meet if enough were interested)

February 9, 2010 at 11:03 pm #57604TT07ParticipantNotice how the corner was identified by 2 stakes and a piece of rope, no designated track/spectator barrier because the common sense we had all been bought up with was quite sufficient. No metal fences to ride into, but rope burns DID happen. NO HSE in sight!
February 19, 2010 at 7:57 pm #57605RadarModeratorVery atmospheric shot I must say
