Has the closure of MG Rover effected you? are you bothered about the end of the last mass produced British car?
We supply rubber seals to the automotive industry and will probably have 40 – 50 redundancies on shopfloor and staff. Will keep you posted.

April 20, 2005 at 2:38 pm #26123PINGUParticipantIt is a sad loss to what’s left of the british car industry but I think it was pretty much a foregone conclusion, not enough investment, poor sales, iffy quality at times and too many sticky fingers in the board room too!
I currently work for a logistics company within Land Rover (used to work for Land Rover itself) and I’m getting out of automotive now, it’s too bloody dodgy now and Ford do not take prisoners!!!___________________________

I bought my car brand new and at 4,000 miles had to have a new engine and at 6,000 miles had major problems with the gearbox. I wrote to Rover and they were very good and fixed all the above free of charge and extended the warranty another 5,000 miles but my cylinder head gasket went at 18,000 miles and I wasn`t covered. Am sorry to hear bout the redundancies all round tho.

Very sad times for British car companies and suppliers. Knock-on effect will be huge in the Midlands where I live.

To “ERR” is natural.. to really fowl things up needs a politician!!

I have run a Rover 600, an 800 and a 75. Liked all of them.

Thats the trouble with having it in private hands, They’ve taken all the cream and discarded the rest. And that has happened throughout numerous industries, a lot of this has happened through privatisation.
