    Does anyone know where I can buy metals from? There’s hardly any merchants in York so online seems to be the only option. I need mild steel and 304 stainless steel. Iive found one website (www.metals4u.co.uk) that seemed okay until the price list arrived. £33.98 for 250mm of stainless round bar. £8 of quid VAT then £12.50 delivery!!!!!!!!

    Rip off!

    Try local engineering/toolmaker companies, they will have steel stock and might be willing to sell you off-cuts etc cheaply
