    Hello fellow bikers.

Ive just popped in to say hello, introduce myself and let me tell you a little about my summer holiday plans [:)]

I am Matt, I live in Belgium, but mostly by accident!
Im what youd call a bit of a milage man and I own motorbikes at different ends the scale, each is totally different but I love them all!

This summer Im planning something a little bit different from the usual summer European tour.

This coming July I will be taking part in a charity Rally to Mongolia on a 1988, 200,000km Honda CBR1000F. I will be totally alone, without support, without any help. I am not taking the easy route, but plan to go down through Turkey, Iran, across the ‘stans’,into Russia and down into the Gobi desert to Ulaan Bataar, Mongolia. Once in Mongolia I will be giving my CBR1000 and ALL of the equipment to the rally charity.

I expect my journey to take around six weeks, but I then plan on stopping for a few weeks in Ulaan Bataar, helping out at the local childrens charity. Then coming home on the Siberan Express.

I will have a website up and running soon, where you can see the rally bike, view the route and learn about the supported charities.

And of course, you can find out how you can personally help or support me [:D]

Hi Matt and welcome to the Bike Forum. We’d be happy to learn of your progress and preparation for this ‘ride of a lifetime’. Why the Honda? I guess it would really prove it can be done cheaper (and no doubt harder) than “Ewan’s method”. Any plans to film your journey or do a video diary?

Hi imperialdata, I would be happy to share my progress with you. The CBR has been resprayed white, ready for stickering up with sponsors logo’s/advertising. I have just taken delivery of my pipe bender so i can begin with building some crash protection into the bike. Triumph UK and Michelin have sent donations to be raffled. ReV-It motorcycle clothing have today agreed to be my equipment sponsor, that just leaves boots and helmet to be sponsored on me!
Why the Honda, good question, reliability was the main attraction, but it could have been any bike.
I would love to video diary my journey, but I have made a pact that I will donate everything to charity in Mongolia, so if someone would like to make a charitable donation of video equipment, I would be more than happy to provide film of my adventure.
