Mash Roadster – Cool looking single 400

Read about this machine in BIKE magazine (May 2015). I must admit to rather liking the look of it…

Mash motorcycles, based in France, have created a traditional single cylinder roadster that perfectly embodies all that is great about air cooled, single cylinder motorcycles. The styling is unashamedly traditional, almost nostalgic. Yet looking deeper you find modern touches for the 21st century. It has a kick start just as this type of bike should, but it also has an electric start for those occasions when you just want to jump on and go. The modern EFI system created by Seimans banishes the days of the 5 minute starting ritual. The reassuringly strong disc front brake combined with the more traditional drum rear provides the best of both worlds, with easy, controllable braking at low speeds, and strong stopping power when it’s needed. Its simplicity makes maintenance straight forward, and servicing costs are kept to a minimum. The excellent fuel consumption combined with the elegant 13 litre fuel tank ensures your fun won’t be constantly interrupted by fuel stops. Being just under 400cc, the Mash Roadstar falls into a low road tax band (the first year’s tax is on us, and included in the on the road price).

The bike is actually made in China

quite a bit cheaper than a SR400, a bike at which it clearly aimed, and the Mash as a electric foot too

Something a bit different. Very Triumph-like in the looks department.

£3895 on the road seems fair if it rides well.
