Well, the sun had his hat on – the first leg through Ross, Ledbury and Malvern was idyllic, only marred a little by choosing to go through a be-trafficed Worcester rather than around it. Only one lunatic tried to take us out as we approached Radar’s pad – not bad for a Sunday morning.
After kitting Deb out at Radar’s Emporium we loaded Thumper’s topbox with old leathers and followed Radar as he booted the Duke over Clee Hill. Couldn’t always see him, but the Ducati sound gave us a clue as to how far ahead he was. Nice bike! Thumper and I had pillions so we were a tad more sedate – me still getting back into the groove and Thumper kindly taking back-marker duties to make sure we didn’t fall off un-noticed. A couple of sheep did jump out at us, but takes more than that to knock off a Forest rider….
Well, the three separate groups arrived at the Ludlow Castle marketplace within 3 minutes of each other, from Brum (Mick and Geoff), Brum/Kiddy/the Forest (Thumper & Bev, Radar, elessimo & Deb) and Cheltenham (Ol).
The unaccustomed heat drove us into a local beer garden to exchange catch-ups and for some to cement names to faces.
After fuelling up at a salad van we set off to the A4110 down to Hereford, past the Luctonians Rugby ground – a lovely stretch with much less traffic than seen earlier. At Hereford we split up: Ol back to Cheltenham, us to the Forest and the rest back to Brum, dropping Radar off on the way.
Great day for riding with an excellent bunch of riders….June 2, 2014 at 9:00 am #67900imperialdataKeymasterGood stuff, nice to hear the sun shone for you.
