Exciting English youngster James Edmeades will make his TT debut this June riding a K6 GSXR1000 Suzuki in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior races for Team Redline Racing, backed by Tim Walker, owner of Redline Motorcycles.
The 22 year old from Loughborough made his name in the closely fought Virgin Mobile Yamaha R6 Cup before moving up into the British Superstock Cup series in 2005 where he immediately impressed. With a win at Oulton Park and three more podiums during the course of the season, James finished third overall and steps up to the British Superstock Championship proper in 2006 with his new team. With further assistance from VSG Security and AP Maintenance the team are well placed for a solid season and having grown up as a road racing fan, his participation at this years Isle of Man TT Races is a great addition to the entry and further proof of the organisers desire to promote and invest in young talent.
Speaking about making his TT debut, James said:
“I’ve been a massive man of road racing throughout my childhood and on to the present day so I’m really excited to be making my TT debut this year. As soon as the organisers approached me about racing on the Mountain Course, my mind was made up and it’s a fantastic opportunity and one I’m really looking forward to. A lot of effort has been put in by everyone and the guidance and support offered by the Mike Hailwood Foundation has been first class. Having people like Milky Quayle on hand giving advice is invaluable and although I’m under no illusions on how difficult it will be, I’m confident of giving a good account of myself and becoming a TT regular in the years ahead.”
Former TT winner and Rider Liaison Officer Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle added:
“I’m delighted that James has agreed to come and race at the TT. As soon as we met, it was clear that he was a big fan of the TT and with an old head on young shoulders he has all the attributes to succeed. He’s proved on the short circuits that he’s very talented and we’ve been able to assist him in achieving his dream of racing here. He’s already been working hard on learning the circuit in preparation for his debut, and I have been really impressed by his attitude. I think this could be the start of a promising TT career.”
