…..a black 07 fireblade for the week.
I would like to be able to give it a scathing review but I cant, I rode it yesterday, not much but enough to say its very nice, but not my cuppa tea, its too civilised and easy to ride, my only gripe being that its not nice round town, the throttle response at slow speed is jerky, too responsive in other words, over bumps the throttle responds quickly and lunges forwards but it isnt meant for slow speed riding.
Its comfy, it turns in quick, holds its line, it accelerates smoothly, has the engine braking you would expect from a litre bike. The front brakes are very good but the rear is next to useless. Its quiet with its standard can, my gixxer has its standard can on but would definitely say I hear it more than the Honda, saying that, it could be that the can on the Honda is underseat whereas the gixxer in a more traditional location so closer to the riders earshot.
Will be taking the Honda to have its recall work done on Wednesday, will try put it through its paces a bit more if I have time, yesterday was barely taxing for any bike, so will give my final verdict then, but as it stands, would I swap the manic rawness of my gixxer for the more civilised Blade? Not in my lifetime!May 19, 2008 at 12:40 pm #55411RadarModeratorMy brother in law has a 2006 Blade and he doesn’t seem to have warmed to it as much as I was expecting him too. It replaced his Thunderace, which he was always raving about. I was talking to him yesterday and he mentioned the throttle response issue too. He also gets it over bumpy roads apparently.
What is the re-call for?Anyway enjoy your week and I look forward to the updates.
How are the Gixxer repairs coming on after your clash with the blackbird?

Champs had a look at electrics for me, got lights working, pass light doesnt work, and trip wire is broke but at least I have lights now lol. Pick up some clips from Sutton MC when I take Andy’s bike on wednesday and they said they have some in indy’s too that may match mine. Paul is going to plastic weld my fairing and airscoop once I am ready for him to take it away for the week so should be sorted soon enough.May 23, 2008 at 1:06 pm #55413RadarModeratorGood stuff Gix, hope to see you back on your Gixxer on the next ride-out.

Actually, don’t. It’ll ruin my view of them.
