In a break from their traditionally cruising and touring orientated range Indian Motorcycles have decided to capitalise on their recent on their recent foray into American style Flat Track Racing and bring out a model with a somewhat more sporting intent…the FTR1200. The FTR of course denotes Flat Track Racer. As befits a bike of this style style the pegs are set further back in a almost 'European' position and the Scout on which the FTR is based has been given a thorough makeover. My first chance to see the new offering in the flesh came at my local Indian dealers, Midwest Mot, who were holding a launch event especially for the new machine. It has generated a lot of press inches and as a hit at Motorcycle Live last month at the NEC, and now I have seen one I can understand why. Clean styling and the uprated 1200 V twin, that produces 120bhp, promise a fun ride. The bike looked great and the Akrapovic pipes looked good too, although I don't think these are standard.
The star of the show…the FTR1200…
The racer that inspired the FTR…
Some cool details, like a TFT screen and the Akrapovic looks the businessAs for Midwest Moto, I like this quirky, friendly dealership and despite it being December, not exactly the biking high season here in the UK, there was a strong turnout to check out the FTR. Food was laid on by a bar-be-que based in huge Russian truck…it doesn't come much cooler than that. I dragged my brother along, he seems smitten with a stock Scout and it was good to bump into some other old biking buddies too for a natter and catch up.

Proprietor Mark Grinnall is the man behind the awesome Scorpion and these Triumph based trikes
No prissy Citroen H vans serving Vegans here…Test rides on a demo are available from March or April 2019 apparently and I am looking forward to trying one with an eye to replacing my Ducati and MV in one hit

I missed him, the big truck burgers are awesome…the truck will be there regularly in the new year so we will have to give it to try. I hope there is a salad or Vegan option
