Bombing home on The T cat today, picking my way through the traffic and up ahead I spied a crisply ridden 1982 Honda VF750S, the original shaft drive V4 that caused a huge storm on launch. All of this was overshadowed by dodgy cams and camchain adjuster maladies. Good to see a “Chocolate cam Special” still out there. Curiously early GPz900R suffered similar problems, but it did not to seem their iconic status one jot.
Then, as I got closer to home a 1980Honda CD200 Benly came into view. I did loads of miles on these during my brief stint as a courier. Tough bikes mechanically. Years since I saw one.

I had one in 1984.October 14, 2005 at 6:03 pm #33391RadarModeratorSaw a VF1000FII at Bassets Pole, this was the chain driven sports tourer. I didn’t like the one I owned for a few months over 1988/9
A lad I worlked with had one of the last VF1000R registered in this country.

Seeing the now rare Kwack set me thinking; I know that modern superbikes are better pieces of desigh technology; more powerful, lighter, better handling and (much) better brakes, I feel that some of the useability of the Mid 1980’s to early 90’s superbikes has been lost.
