Howdo all!
I’ve been mooching around on hear for a while and thought it was time too say hello!!
i currently have a ’97 ZX7R, ’98 GSXR400R and a Yamaha SZR660 in my garage.
The 7 is my main bike (apart from being in pieces at the min – new wheels, exhaust and rear shock) with the Gixxer a play thing (alas this is in pieces too – carbs pain in the arse) and i bought the SZR for some single cylinder thumper fun! Pulls like a train and great for chucking around!
Previous bikes include a ZZR600, RGV250 (loved that bike would have one again if i could find a decent one) and a couple of 125’s.
Thats about it really! I’ve been riding for 7 years and loved everyone of them!!October 27, 2008 at 12:27 am #56898HippoDronesParticipantHiya, welcome in!

That’s a nice varied fleet you have! The SZR660 is a single isn’t it? I’ve seen pictures of them but never seen one close up, are they as skinny as the old SRX’s were?

It is a single thunper! They are very skinny mate. Built on the TZR250 frame with the banana swingarm. Only thing i don’t like is the shape of the tank. It kicks you in the bollox on ocasion which is a tad uncomfortable!! Its a bit of a stretch for the more vertically challenged of us due to distance between seat and bars and the tank shape doesn’t help. however has a nice low seat height so easy to get both feet down.

Welcome to the forum.
Great varied fleet you’ve got there. What’s up with the carbs on the Gixxer? I’ve got the carbs off my Fireblade at the moment as its been off the road for 6ish years and the carbs are a tad cruded up!

The carbs are notoriously difficult on the 400’s as if the bike is left standing for any stretch of time the o-rings in the carbs harden and don’t allow the bike to run properly!
THis isn’t helped ofcourse by the donut that owned the bike previously using instant gasket for the float bowl gaskets which has blocked all my jets!
Just trying to source some carb repair kits for it. I did have an email of a company a few months ago but i’ve forgotten who!!The best way to clean carbs so i’ve been told is in an ultrasonic bath with some cleaning agents in. This apparently gets all the crap out of those hard to reach places.

Have you tried here for carb kits?
