Does the “Wet Dream”, now count as a classic???
I have owned three over the years…
September 2, 2006 at 10:48 am #51144imperialdataKeymasterI think so as ‘Classic’ (to me anyway) represents something of a bygone age. Whether it can be grouped with the other bikes like Ariels, Broughs, Velocettes etc is another matter.
You don’t see them on the roads now so they are definitely becoming collectable. I can’t honestly see me paying over £1000 for one but I’m sure a minter would go for that now.

All you say is correct, but many cars that are pretty ordinary have attained classic status through their sheer popularity, the VW Beetle and Morris Minor for example. Honda shifted 26,000 of them in the UK, a massive number and for many, in the UK before the 250 law the Superdre\am was their first “big” bike. So I think it does deserve it. Doesn’t mean to say it was a good bike though!
Look forward to more details on the RS Rat!

March 17, 2007 at 12:39 pm #51148StinkwheelParticipantyou gotta look objectionably though………
I mean yes a ‘wetdream’ is a crap slow heavy bike, but people bought them in their thousands. Look back the bsa bantam was a slow peice of crap even for its time, they still sold them for years. the velocette LE was albut a total flop and they are a classic. Just because we dont like them doesnt mean they aint classic. i mean people thing allegros and marinas are classic cars for flips sake.
March 18, 2007 at 11:55 pm #51149RadarModeratorLooks like the CB250N is a classic. My last one, a 1982 DX that I ran briefly in 90/91 was a dog, but I sold it to somebody who did it up!
May 11, 2007 at 9:18 am #51150ScouserParticipantSwapped my superdream for a car stereo to Digger and I bought that bike new!
I remember the fibre glass tyres had as much grip as baby oil covered bubble wrap, but I did get 2,500,000 miles out of them.
May 11, 2007 at 10:17 am #51151imperialdataKeymasterNever mind Scouser, the car stereo may be a classic some day too.
May 11, 2007 at 5:43 pm #51152DiggerParticipantIt was Sharp, the stereo that is, not the bike. []
