July 3, 2006 at 4:39 pm #49811maxParticipantThanks guys, went on a mission this morning had a ride down to Santa pod raceway in podington ive never been to a drag race track before .
I set off at six this morning and got there at nine , i hate the m1 why does everybody have to drive slow in the third lane f in t**ts .
Anyway were was i oh yes got there at nine £15 entry and £65 to use the track all day , but i only had £50 cash and expained it was my birthday today and would £50 do i gave him a big smile and he said “ok your here now anyway £50 will do” .
I parked my bike up and watched the other bikes race for half an hour, looking around at the bikes parked up, my zx12 looked like a 125 compared to thiers it was the only standard bike there.
Anyway at the track lights, I was a bit confused at how it worked at first I was told by someone dont wait for the green go on amber because the lights change that quick you are sat there like a wet lettuce on green. Anyway amber it is and off I went on this 1/4 mile race, wow it was over in seconds. I had about six goes my first attempt was 124.99mph in 11.926 seconds, my best time was 127.39mph in 11.595 seconds. had enough of this parked up cos i was hot and sweaty. got talking to some guys and I told them it was a bit slippy half way through, they said “did no one tell you to reduce your tyre preasure? that will give you more grip.” oh right thats why. I know for next time . Got a bit boared so decided to head off home up the m1 through matlock, straight up the a6.
Anyway that was an expieriance i’ll never forget I recommend it to anyone who fancies seeing what their bike is capable of on a 1/4 mile run.[]July 3, 2006 at 4:46 pm #49812GixParticipantGlad you had a good day….bet you will be havin a few bevvies tonight eh?[][]

when i did my best run at 127.39mph I happened to get a glimpse at my speedo and it was showing about 140-142mph why does the speedo do this?
July 4, 2006 at 12:20 pm #49815imperialdataKeymasterGood question, no idea mate! Sounds like you had a great day, any contact details for Santa Pod to book a visit in advance (we haven’t all got your charm to get the price down on the day you know)?
