Well my trusty old car is getting on a bit and with 131,000 miles on the clock I have decided it might be time to move on to a newer set of wheels. Having spotted a decent car in the wilds of Staffordshire on the dreaded ebay it was time to take a waddle over for a look. As the sun was out and having only managed one or two miles this year on my commuting run I thought it was an opportunity to let the FZ stretch its’ legs. Thumper joined me on his Triumph Tiger and this was upstaged by another old mate of mine, Edy, who came along on his tidy, but huge 95 Honda Africa Twin.
The pace was pretty laid back to be honest as we meandered across Staffordshire, skirting the edge of Cannock Chase and passing through some very pretty villages. Sometimes it is easy to forget just how beautiful this contry is.
As usual we did get lost at one point and we also stopped off the tastefully refurbished Dog and Doublet pub in the charming village of Sandon for cuppa. It had only re-opened the day before and ehile not cheap it looked bloody impressive.
I’m telling you, it’s right at the island…two adventure bikes in a cul-de-sac somewhere near Stafford…
The bikes lined up outside the rather posh pub
Thumper and Ed eagerly await their beautifully made cuppaAfter checking the car out we wondered over to Stafford itself, checked out a few bikes in CG Chell. Friendly place and all three of us were rather taken by the Royal Enfield selection on show.
Tucked away, this dealer has an impressive and varied stock
Surely the Mrs wouldn’t mind me buying this..?
Thumper tries the Enfield for sizeA bit more wondering around lovely lanes follwed, the inevitable stop for a ‘light salad’, before finishing off a highly enjoyable ride back at my mates house to check out his hydraulic bike lift. I am a sad b@stard and no mistake!

Bike lift, hubba, hubba!A cracking day out, lets hope summer 11 delivers better than the last few!

131,000 miles is only just run in, my motor is getting on for twice that and still going strong.

Laid back is a good word for it, after the working week it was great just to be out on bike and with good company
