Very impressive pic. No wonder it’s been quiet on here of late.
I’m sure you can almost see Max’s giant ‘snow cock and balls’ from space.
January 8, 2010 at 6:28 pm #60045ChampsParticipanti have never understood how if you have global warming it gets colder?
January 8, 2010 at 6:51 pm #60046CGR Bike GearParticipantI remember the hype at one point that said there was going to be another Ice Age. Then came Global Warming, then a slight play on words to Climate Change.
I don’t know of any other job where you can consistently get it wrong every week without fear of being sacked. Weathermen (is that PC these days)are untouchable. Maybe if they fired a few they would have a better focus on the job in hand and a real reason to get it right.
On the balance of probability (i.e. good weather vs bad weather) you have a fifty – fifty chance of getting it right. The Met Office defies probability (or they are really unlucky sods) as they get it wrong more times than than they get it right.
Conspiracy theories at the ready. It could be in the interest of the government to keep everyone indoors. So tell everyone on a Wednesday that there will be bad weather at weekend and hey presto, most stay indoors.
When there is no chance of bad weather (i.e, in Summer and the wool can’t be pulled) then make some other frightening story up, such as high pollen count or high UV chance of cancer and hey presto, most people stay indoors.I think if ALL of the occupants of an average large town (say 180,000 people)decided to go out to park for a picnic there would be chaos. The token gesture Police force couldn’t cope with the potential surges in incidents. Plus with everyone together they may talk about things that are wrong with the country. Its only a thought. Probably nothing in it at all.
January 8, 2010 at 8:46 pm #60047TT07ParticipantMaybe the Met Office get it wrong more often simply because the bigger their computer gets the more power is consumed then the bigger impact is made on the climate! Honestly though their predictions really are pointlessly incorrect most of the time.
