Steve Martin is approaching full fitness ahead of the four day test at Phillip Island, starting on Tuesday.

The Australian, who had a kidney operation in October, is ready to push for lap times during the team’s final outing before the start of the new season.

He said: “I wouldn’t say I am 100 per cent physically fit. I couldn’t run a marathon or instance but my side is no longer sore or weak. It’s just that I didn’t do anything for two months so I am still getting back to full physical fitness.

“I am not worried about falling off now, whereas I was tentative in Qatar in December. I’m robust again and I will be able to try for lap times. It will be good to go back to the track which should be the most competetive for our bike. It will be interesting to see how the latest engine configuration goes around there.

“The four days are useful in case it rains for half a day or so. It’s raining in Melbourne as I speak! We still need all the testing time we can get as it’s going to be a tough year when you look at the riders who are around. There are going to be no back markers this year and it’s the only championship ypou can say that about.”

LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, VODKA in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!!
