Mine was in 1983, I was carrying a pillion while still on L plates…he didn’t have a helmet on. They said I was speeding too…I was riding a CB100N! I wound up with 2 points and even made the local paper! What was your first brush with the law?

October 25, 2011 at 10:39 pm #62825RadarModeratorTraffic…but confession is good for the soul so they say!

Traffic wise, not much… at the moment.
Got let off for doing (lots)mph in a 40 zone down the coventry road near Sheldon, on the proviso that I go on a bikesafe course. Which I booked as soon as I got home.
3 points for doing 41mph in a 30 in Nuneaton about 14 months ago.
And an 120 euro fine for doing 50 in a 30 in Italy.
November 2, 2011 at 11:08 am #62827imperialdataKeymaster1981, had a warning as I was following a police car, both doing 45mph in a 40. He stopped the car (in the outside lane) leaving my bike parked dangerously behind him with me still astride it. He then came to tell me “I should have lost you as I was doing 45”. He had no flashing lights so perhaps I should have made a citizen’s arrest? I just accepted the warning and went on my way, happy not to have got rear-ended.
I had a later conviction for speeding while racing the Ford Sierra that had come up close to my 750 with his headlights on. I thought he wanted to race so I caned my bike for half a mile, then saw the blue lights on top of his car. That was a fairly liberal 3 points and a fine. I upgraded my mirrors the following weekend. The annoying thing is that I had only gone out to warm up the engine oil before changing it, an excuse I don’t recommend you try to use.
