On my route to work I take a brill road with fast bends and straights but this morning as I had just done a fast left hander, there was dried mud all over the road left by a tractor.I know its just one of the many hazards for us bikers but in this day and age do you think there is somthing the farmers can do to prevent the mud fling.Just to cap the day off,the local council have cut the grass on all the roundabouts were I live and when the tractor pulls off the island to go to next one,it flings the sodden wet grass from the tyres onto the road then cars run over it and compact it then me comes along and shits as my front end hits one and gives me the scare of my life as I nearly loose it.It was`nt just one island but several,no thought is given what so ever to bikers as this problem is totally overlooked.I`ve just stepped off my soap box now.
Take it easy out there

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vacuum in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, there goes another engine!

June 17, 2005 at 9:38 pm #28527GixParticipantoh dear….should I spell it out for you?
Many years ago I used to work on a racing stud and farm, now we had these bovines and sheep, and their er…..waste is very good fertilizer, in it goes into a muck spreader….cascading over the open sides when tractor hits pot hole or goes round bends….then into the field, spread the muck, tractor wheels and spreader wheels getting a good helping, and picking up mud too.
What I am saying is that it could be mud on the road, it could be er…muck on the road….or it could well be a mixture of both…..smell your tyres and boots, sure sign is the smell…….or do you always smell like that?[:o)]LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU, THEN TRUSTING THEM NOT TO.

June 17, 2005 at 10:36 pm #28532GixParticipantHahahaha! Too right they shouldnt be on the road!

Turned into a side road in Ashby-de-la-zouch once and slid sideway’s for about 3 feet. Kept it up though. Thats why I now have the bull bars on my bike.Be seen and be Safe!
