Dumper Truck Joyrider Left Trail of Destruction
A joyrider demolished four speed cameras and smashed down farm fences during a 30-mile wrecking spree in a 35-tonne dumper truck, it was revealed today.
The huge six-wheel vehicle left a trail of destruction behind it after it was taken on Monday morning from a building site on the A1, in Cowthorpe, North Yorkshire.
The chaos began when four horses were found to have escaped from a field near the busy A64 road, near Tadcaster.
North Yorkshire Police arrived at the scene to find that two fences and a road sign had been flattened. Fresh tyre marks from what appeared to be a JCB were found nearby.
Further reports flooded in of gates being damaged in the village of Cowthorpe, while crops had also been destroyed by the monster vehicle as the driver took a brief diversion over a farmer’s field.
The truck then smashed down four speed cameras along Walton Road, 20 miles away in Wetherby, before finally coming to a stop near the town’s racecourse.
Wonder if he had something against speed cameras….
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said that the truck had caused thousands of pounds of damage.
“The first report came in at 5.25am and then we had a number coming in over the next couple of hours.
“The truck was found at 9.25am at a roundabout near Wetherby. We have no idea if the driver was drunk or not, but the cost of the damage will run into thousands of pounds.
Well I am sure there is plenty in the pot from the scameras to repair any damage….
“No-one has been arrested and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.”
The yellow Volvo truck has been returned to its owners in Barnsley.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming…….WOO HOO, what a ride!
