Drivers not told of speed checks
Speed checks can be carried out at a number of sites
Drivers will no longer be able to find out where speed checks are going to be taking place across three counties.
West Mercia Safety Camera Partnership previously published where it planned to carry out spot checks in Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. But the partnership said it believed some drivers were using the information to speed at sites not being targeted.
The group runs a number of permanent cameras but also carries out checks using mobile camera systems.
A spokeswoman for the partnership said: “The general principle we have to promote is that drivers should observe speeds limits at all times and places, irrespective of the likelihood of enforcement and detection.
“We feel that continued release of the site lists undermines this principle and have therefore decided to stop issuing these.”
She said new information would be published on the group’s website giving information about the accident history at all the enforcement sites across the three counties
