Ok this is a little mod I have had to do on my bike, many owners do it without having to, but as the EXCVA was shagged on my bike and a new one was gonna set me back £228, I have joined the ranks and done it too. Have included instructions for newer models as well as its different to older models.
1. Lift tank and prop it up
2. Remove right hand side fairing
3. For K1 and K2 models, disconnect the actuator cables from the EXCVA so they are no longer controlling the SET Valve. Leave the wiring from the EXCVA connected to the wiring loom or you wont be able to disable the F1 error light. For K3/4/5/6 leave actuator cables and instead disconnect both wiring plugs from wiring harness.
4. Locate ECU under riders seat and remove large plug, the F1 light wire for K1/2 models is the second from right in the bottom row of wires, to remove, push large white tab on side of plug till 2 small tabs protude on opposite side, this release clamp holding wires, pull black/brown wire out and secure out of way. For the later models you need to unplug the wire “plug” from ECU, look at bottom of plug and there is an orange cover, squeeze tabs together on either side of cover to remove, when holding the plug witih the locking tab facing up the F1 wire is the black/brown wire in the top row, 8th slot from left, insert a small flat head screwdriver into the hole and pry upwards to unlock the wire, pull wire from back of plug and secure out of the way.
5. Reconnect plug into ECU, replace seat/tank etc and thats it! - AuthorPosts
