Can anyone recommend good cleaning products or techniques and what about chainlube. I got castrol chainwax, and normally use carwax shampoo to clean bike but thinking of trying muc-off
July 10, 2005 at 9:45 pm #29262DiggerParticipantJizer is a degreasent spray that you clean all your engine with and chain, its clean and very effective better than Gunk and washes off with water, leaves no residue or streaks. The shampoo I use is Carplan, brill, the sheen is great but dont forget to wipe dry with chiomiux leather.Waxing is the key though a good quality wax is recommended I use Siminiz Max witch is the dogs testicles.Worth a try Gixer as it brings my blue R1 up a treat.

Autoglym for paintwork etc. I find solvo a bit abrasive for chrome but I use it on alloy. Wheels and any black plastic gets a wipe over with a cloth sprayed with WD40

July 13, 2005 at 4:44 pm #29267barmy_carmyParticipantRocketRichy, you can now get autosol in a liquid form, it’s not like the paste. Comes in a can.

As a bonus, I get a lifetime supply of autoglym and of course the car gets jetwashed and the autoglym goes on the BIKE!
Well standards matey he he.
I use wonderwheels on the alloys and I tell you this, I did it once when i first got the bike just over a year ago and I haven’t had to use it again! Just give them a once over and they’re as good as new jobs a guden!
Good to know about the lube etc. Doing my chain for the first time this weekend and know bugger all about doing it, so it should be amusing trying to work it out pmsl!
I presume I will have to degrease the chain first, then I’ve got some Shell Advance chain Ultra which I got in Heine Gericke, the bloke in there told me that because I had ‘O’ rings in the chain that this stuff is better. I’m very green with things like this, so bought it and will give it a go, I’ll let you know if it’s any cop!
Happy riding to you all XXXXXXX
