Carlos Checa is hanging onto a fine but real thread of hope that leads back to the hands of Yamaha and Michelin, one that could become his final opportunity to continue in the MotoGP World Championship this season. The Spanish rider, in an interview with MotoGP.com, has spoken about this possibility and wanted to give thanks for all the interest and support that he is receiving in these complicated moments of his sporting career.
“With the unexpected departure of Sito Pons, an odyssey has commenced for me to be able to ride this year with a secure team and bike. But in this difficult process I have discovered something very important, and that is that there are people who appreciate me, who are interested in me, and that have demonstrated their great friendship”
“Yamaha, Michelin and Hervé Poncharal have given refuge to my hopes of continuing in MotoGP. They have been interested in me and it is something for which I thank them a lot. It is a vote of confidence, although I know that it is very complicated to achieve a secure project. Right now there are two big enemies; one is time, which is really on top of us, and the other is filling in the budget”
Checa expressed his thoughts in the wake of the decision made by Sito Pons to withdraw from the 2006 season.
“I would not be telling the truth if I were to say that I haven´t thought about the possibility of remaining without a ride in 2006. I have accepted my situation. Now we are all interested in making this opportunity concrete, and not losing hope, but I don´t want to fool myself or get my expectations up for fear of leaving myself open to another disappointment”
“It´s obvious that this situation will affect you, and now my training regime has been broken a little. But I have a strong desire and I´m going to continue with my preparation and normal working routine in order that, if the moment comes, I am prepared to give my all”.
life sucks get used to it
