Motorbike riders under 25 could be banned from riding high-powered bikes under EU-wide legislation to reduce the number of fatalities amongst bikers. Some other EU countries already have such legislation in place and the new law is part of a programme to standardise legislation within the Union. The Motorcycle Industry Association has already criticised the proposals, despite the fact that biker deaths have been rising, saying that most fatalities have been men over 25, many being so-called ‘born-again’ bikers in their forties and fifties. Dave and I have been biking since we were youngsters, I’m in my forties and other half in his 50’s. and I wouldnt want our youngsters penalised either. You are not allowed to ride bigger bikes unless you pass your test, Thats what the test is there for. It’s discrimination against bikers and is unjust. Whatever next! They dont do it for high powered cars so why bikes?
