Boston Superbike rider Ben Wilson finally got to swing his leg over his new Vivaldi GSX-R1000 K6 Suzuki this week when he travelled to Croft for a two day shake down test.
Faced with a biting north west wind and the prospect of snow later in the day conditions were far from ideal, but with just five weeks remaining before the opening round of the 2006 British Superbike championship any track time was better than none.
Ben completed just three laps of the North Yorkshire circuit before a hailstorm halted work for the day. He said: “I am really disappointed I didn’t get more track time today, but I was able to at least make some adjustments to the handlebars and find a good riding position. I found the new bike easy to ride and it appears to be very quick. Once dialled in I am confident it will be very competitive.”
The next test will be in Spain in early March where it is hoped the weather will be kinder and the 23-year-old county star can prepare for the forthcoming season.
