we went for a blast today to the bike cafe and then to scarborough, then something bad happened….
i’ll let MD fill you all in on it. thought he would have by now
June 7, 2009 at 11:06 pm #58523RadarModeratorSh!t, you ok? What has happened??
June 7, 2009 at 11:30 pm #58524BigBenParticipantwell i shall tell actually ‘cos we may be waiting a couple of weeks for MD to say snything.
everyones fine, dont worry, i probably should have worded it differently.
but the day got off to a bad start, it was cold and cloudy. the tyres took a hell of a lot of warming up. we were just taking it steady and some stupid bitch nearly ran into me as she was too impatient to wait for the car infront of her to fully pull in on the left.bit of swearing.
there were a few front end twitchers to follow.
next thing, we were running upto the bike cafe at fridaythorpe and its sat on a hill, and this road is fantastic!! i have a few vids to upload for you guys to see.
around alot of the bends there double solid white lines.. so im hammering upto this tight right hander and a rangerover over takes a push bike literally half on my side of the road followed by a tw*t in a merc….the horns blare and a few gestures are thrown. still we arnt talking about serious things..its just another day in north yorkshire.we get to the cafe..have a chat..and a drink and set off for the coast..next thing i know i get over taken at ridiculous speed by 5 odd guys that were at the cafe, so we start to chase as i do ‘cos im stupid. and we eventually over take them again cos they got lost haha! morons.
get to scarborough, the sun comes out. we relax and think, todays going to be a good day. so we set off back for home to grab my digital camera that i had forgotten to take some pictures for you guys actually and we decide to go the most direct route home, on the A64.
this is where we ran into some trouble, on the same day there just happened to be a modified car show happening further down the road. so all the morons were out as you would expect….also the police were out in force and had set up a road block.
we got pulled over, they were dipping petrol and all manner of things so we just thought they would have a quick look at our machines and let us on our way.then the words came out of the police officers mouth “illegal exhaust check”
immediate thought……OH F**K! cos if push came to shove how the bloody hell would i be able to argue my bean can sized exhaust.the officer took one look at both bikes…”yep both illegal” he said to the other officer.
at this point we were both a little miffed as you could imagine, except then the officer looked at mine again and noticed the BS stamp on the exit port and he then said “infact yours is fine”.so what started off as a really good day turned to sh*t with martin getting clamped as his can wasnt stamped. and i think what pissed him off more was the fact that if the cops had actually looked at my bike they would have been able to award me over 12 points for everything wrong with it.
i actually feel really bad for him.
im sure MD will add to this, cos it probably didnt make a lot of sense to be honest but im tired
June 7, 2009 at 11:35 pm #58525RadarModeratorQuite a day, but at least you are in one peice. I think it carries a fine for an illegal zorst?
June 7, 2009 at 11:39 pm #58526BigBenParticipantit does indeed i thought it was points too but he didnt get any.. so next time anyone says “exhausts dont need stamps anymore blah blah” dont bloody listen to them! i shall be setting everyone straight.
but it goes to show that you could actually have any exhaust on you wanted, aslong as its got a BS stamp..cos surely the attending officers couldnt have thought mine was legal :S i dont get it.
cept i did have my helmet off at this point so maybe i intimidated them with my immense height and uglynessJune 7, 2009 at 11:45 pm #58527RadarModeratorYou might of been in trouble if they had a noise meter! How is the application to join the plod going?
June 8, 2009 at 9:36 am #58528BigBenParticipantyeah i was thinking they were going to whip one of those out..but i dont think its actually the police that have them, i think its special people that carry those…plus its an unfair test to do it by the side of a busy road so they would have to have taken the bikes elsewhere so its a bit more hassle than its worth in my opinion. but then again ive been wrong before.
haha i havnt heard anything back regarding the date n time of the asessment…im not holding out hope to be honest. i hope the interviewer is female though ‘cos then i can try and blag it with my natural charm, and if that doesnt work then its tough theres a couple of apprenticeships going at the mo to do with electrical sort of thingys..but at degree level. could get me a bit of thatJune 8, 2009 at 11:11 am #58529imperialdataKeymasterBad news on MD’s pipe.
What do you mean by “petrol dipping”?
June 9, 2009 at 12:44 am #58530BigBenParticipantwell i should have said diesel dipping to make sure people arnt using cherry-ade
i assume they were doing that though i wasnt paying much attention what with getting pulled over for the first time in my 5 years of biking
bloody MD being a bad influenceJune 9, 2009 at 7:55 am #58531ChampsParticipantI never knew you get clamped, I thought it was just a fine. Think I may get the dremmel out and carve a ‘BS’ in the zuast. haha!
June 9, 2009 at 10:21 pm #58532BigBenParticipantsorry champs, i mean clamped as in told off…yorkshire lingo…or more than likely something i just made up one day
he received a fine only.
hehe have a go…why not..except it has to look professional or you get told off more for trying to trick the police. also theres a sh*t load of numbers after the “BS” which i can supply if you likeJune 10, 2009 at 9:35 pm #58533BigBenParticipanti should also mention that i would like to thank the guy on the approaching motorcycle who warned me of what we were travelling towards, he gave me a hand signal to what i suspect was to keep my revs low.
either way it still shows people are looking out for others….top blokeJune 11, 2009 at 6:51 am #58534ChampsParticipantquote:

Bloody northerners. haha.
Respect to the chap on the otherside. The last thing you wanted was to come charging upto the road block.

yeah, there needs to be more people like that on the road, rather than the ass on the ZX7R that undercut me on a round-a-bout last year and had the cheek to beep at me, if i wasnt in desperate need of petrol id have gone after him. cant be assed with people being morons.where you from then champs? not daaaarrn saaaarrfff?? hahaha
