I don’t like cleaning my bike. Not that I’m lazy, but I’ve just got too many other, more interesting things to do – things that involve rugby, beer, chainsaws, Debs, food, tequila, film, family, planning travel, sleeping and beer.
So my 09 TDM was starting to look a tad grubby – even two annual washes hadn’t really kept the showroom sheen intact: hence my visit, after work on Friday, to Mick Morris just to the north of Worcester. Mick holds a franchise for allyearbiker.co.uk, a deep clean and corrosion inhibiting service. This is how it went:
First the rinse
Then the suds
Followed by a warm dry.
Wrapped up to keep warm
Treated with AFC50
Touched up in those hard-to-find areas
Looks a bit cleaner now….Mick explained the process and supplied coffee and conversation throughout treatment: it lasted 2hrs 45mins and cost £60. Apparently it is best done once a year if the bike is ridden over winter: my MOT is in January and the Forest lanes are gritted from November to March so it’ll be interesting to see how the TDM copes from now on…
But I’m certainly pleased with the results so far. I’ll update this later…

Looks better than when i bought it 21 months & 8000 miles ago! Runs better after my ECU mod removed most of the snatchiness, too….

I am keen to have a go, never ridden a TDM900

Or just meet up for a rideout and we’ll do a swap.Compared to my recent test rides I do find the TDM a tad slow-steering, but then the MV Turismo, 1200GS, Trumpets XRx & Explorer are in a new (albeit expensive) league.
And Debs still loves the TDM, finding it really comfy.
See what she says after 16 days touring on it next year….October 19, 2015 at 4:24 pm #68818imperialdataKeymasterLooks like good value for money and a job well done.

I thought so – certainly looks a lot better now….
Now all I need is some winter tyres….October 20, 2015 at 10:40 pm #68820RadarModerator
Now all I need is some winter tyres….Isn’t that called a car?

Well, my car has winter tyres (without which I can’t get to work in winter) – why can’t they make motorbike winter tyres? It’s just a different rubber compound…
And I’m not referring to those ice tyres used in Russian speedway…..If they do make them, let me know….
