The fairings on my blade are pretty reasonable but have picked up a few cracks and dings in the last 20 years. Then a couple of weeks ago whilst moving the bike (with a flat back tyre) it went over onto the right side. No major structural damage, bent the brake lever, broke the indicator and bar end but also put a small crack in the top fairing and more scratches to the lower. After much swearing I hit the web and contacted fellow forum member Big Ben to see if he still had parts from his Blade streetfighter project. Ben was able to help me out with indicators, levers and an inner fairing panel but didn’t have the rest of the plastics.
So I weighed up the following options:
1. Leave it as is, the battle scared look is cool right? no
2. Look for second hand replacement panels for the damaged ones. This turned out to be impossible as my colour scheme was only available for 1 year (1994) and any available are 20 years old and just as bad as mine.
3. New panels from Honda. Some are still available but come in a single colour and the OEM decal set is no longer available. Besides I would have to sell the house and at least one child to afford them.
4. Repair my panels, repaint and use an aftermarket decal set. An aftermarket decal set for my bike is £200 plus cost of repair and paint.
5. Aftermarket fairing set in either standard or custom colours.
As you can probably guess from the title of this post I went for option 5. This also means that all other options are still available to me in the future as I will be putting the original set up in the loft.
I’ve been looking at the aftermarket fairing kits available on eBay, Amazon etc for a while. The majority originate from China and this can put off some people as Chinese products have a reputation as being poor quality. However, through working for some major companies that source both components and tooling in China I know that this is not necessarily the case. In fact, many of the OEM supplied parts on modern bikes have been sourced from China for many years.
So my search through Youtube, online reviews and many forums started looking for a company that I trusted. I then contacted the likely ones and asked many questions about construction and custom paint.
Eventually I decided on https://cbr600fairings.com/, who had good recent reviews, answered all my questions promply and with good English and were willing to customise any of their standard designs in any way I wanted. I toyed with the idea of going completely custom (including the Blue Pallet Wood grain effect – Radar) but in the end decided that I didn’t want to paint the tank to match. Also this means that the bike can be returned to standard in the future.
I ordered this set yesterday for $399 (£252) delivered. But with the 1994 colours not the 1995 ones shown in the picture.
https://cbr600fairings.com/cbr-900rr-fairings-honda-canada-p-264.htmlI know there might be a another £60 to pay for import duty (depending on if the customs pick it up). Still a good price in my book.
I already had an email confirming my order and the changes I want from “David” from cbr600rr fairings .
I’ll update this thread next when a big parcel from China arrives.

December 1, 2013 at 9:55 pm #67194RadarModeratorSorry t hear the blade toppled over, very frustrating I bet. The fairing option you are going for seems to be the best way forward. Two or three of the lads on the Thundercat forum have fitting these fairing kits to their bikes and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. All had opted for the tank cover too as they went for non standard colours and some reported fir issues in the area of the fuel filler, but all had got around the problem OK.
I might pop down for a look see when you get them
Chinese quality has come a long way in the last 5 years
December 7, 2013 at 8:12 am #67195ses310ModeratorHave these turned up yet?
December 7, 2013 at 9:27 am #67196TT07Participant:)Hi EVERYONE long time no post/reply! Seeing this post reminded me about seeing my own photo of my GSXR600 used to advertise their product – the cheeky so and so’s had nicked it straight off the BikePics site! In that pic they sure looked as good as the genuine item because they were!
December 7, 2013 at 10:52 am #67197katanaParticipantNot here yet SES, but I only ordered them a week ago. I’ve had a few emails from them confirming the exact model of the blade etc.
Good to hear from you TT07. I did a lot of research before placing an order and saw the actual delivered fairings on blogs etc of this company. They specialise in Honda fairings so it must have been another company? After saying that I noticed a lot of them used “stock” photos on their websites.
December 7, 2013 at 12:45 pm #67198RadarModeratorWelcome back TT!
As for the fairing kits:
Standard Thundercat on the left. The one on the right has a Chinese kit fitted
The second bike in the line up has a Chinese fairing kit
The white bike has a Chinese fairing kitDecember 19, 2013 at 9:11 am #67199katanaParticipantGot the confirmation from the courier today – My fairings are on the way.
